Fragrant Incense for Victims of China Railway



Fragrant incense spread from just below the road bridge near the city of Wenzhou, eastern China. Besides incense, sprinkling of flowers were there, the collapse of a four carriage train that collided on Saturday (23/07/2011). Dozens of families are gathered there to celebrate the spirit of respect for the incident.

Until now, according to Xinhua news on Friday (29/07/2011), a deadly crash that killed 40 people. While some people expressed disappointment with the way the Ministry of Railways to handle the tragedy.

Instead, officials are looking at the damage signal is likely to cause accidents. Six carriages derail. Four of them fell from a height of 20 to 30 feet, injuring about 200 people.

One of the relatives of the victims criticized the Ministry of Railways to handle the negotiation of compensation with the families. "Today the local government office said if we did not sign (the agreement of compensation), they will not deal anymore," said Zhang Meilan who lost her niece.

The accident sparked anger residents over government policy to boost the accelerated development of high-speed train line. Internet users and even some government media accused the officials more concerned with economic development rather than the security of citizens.

"They say, if we want to wait, we can wait here, but they will not care about us. This way of thinking what is this?" Meilan said again.
The accident occurred four years after the first high-speed train began operating in China. Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, who visited the scene on Thursday vowed to severely punish the parties responsible.
